Sandridge Partners was nailed by a Kings County jury for $73 million – the largest verdict in that county’s history – over a land deal that went bad. Reed Smith handled the appeal, but Moskovitz Appellate Team was called in to give them a hand.
M.A.T.’s former appellate Justices Jim Ardaiz, Bill Stein, and Chris Cottle – along with Legal Director Myron Moskovitz – all used their extensive experience inside the appellate courts to provide input that shaped the briefing.
The result? The Court of Appeal just issued its opinion partly affirming and partly reversing the judgment – but setting aside over 90% of the $73 million award, and disallowing a retrial on it.
